Project Overview
The client & architect had a specific aesthetic in mind for the AOV required for the head of the communal staircase in their building. Having originally considered typical Velux pitched roof options, they consulted Rocburn for alternative that would enable a specific frame makeup and RAL finish to suit their visual requirements, as well as smoke ventilation needs.
Rocburn worked with the main contractor at length to ensure that the ventilator option was suitably sized to achieve the required free area, while also being suitable for a Mansard roof installation.
Implemented Solution
The products used were EN 12101-2 ventilators with twin-chain 24V DC actuators built-in, coupled to a roofing frame all finished in RAL 7015 External / RAL 9010 Internal. There were 2x opening lights, side hinged opening outwards shutting onto a centre mullion.
Rocburn Ltd also supplied suitable EN 12101-10 certified smoke vent control panels (including battery backup), with a manual controls for the head & base of the communal stairwell with LED indication of alarm/fault states.
Our AOV panel was then triggered to open the vent via a normally-open, volt-free relay from the existing fire alarm/detection system on site.
As with all bespoke made products, we issued a final Approval Drawing laying out key dimensions, performances and finishes before proceeding to order stage. This gives all parties peace of mind that all aspects of the vent design have been considered and addressed before production begins, ensuring a smooth installation.
